The project is focusing on developing innovative materials for the production of sporting goods that are both function driven and recyclable. With recyclability as a determining parameter, focus is on a special type of new polymers with a broad mechanical property range that will lead to a recyclable product that can be fine-tuned to a variety of applications and related processes.
This means materials from industrial or sportswear waste sources could be collected, treated and reused for our envisaged sporting goods, in a repeated material recycling loop.
Our aim is also to identify recycling processes that will enable to convert material, which is currently seen as waste, to the same or very close to the quality of the virgin material. Examination in
the following years will help us determine the boundaries of number of recycling loops, upgrading potential and suitability towards meeting product performance requirements.
